Bio Statement
Dr. Milbourne was recruited to The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in 2002 to provide gynecologic care to women with cancer. In this capacity, she provides a comprehensive range of gynecologic services including counseling around menopausal symptoms, sexual dysfunction, fertility preservation prior to starting cancer treatment, as well as surgical care for common and rare gynecologic problems.
Dr. Milbourne has spearheaded the creation of multidisciplinary guidelines for the care of the pregnant cancer patient. She facilitates and coordinates obstetric and cancer care and serves as a liaison between oncologists at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and perinatologists at The University of Texas Health Science Center. Dr. Milbourne provides a limited number of services to pregnant women in their first trimesters.
She also provides care and treatment for patients with preinvasive disease of the cervix, vagina and vulva. Treatments include excisional treatments usually performed in an office setting as well as laser therapy of preinvasive lesions of the cervix, vulva and vagina.
Under Dr. Milbourne’s leadership, the section of General Gynecology has grown to a total of 3 general gynecologists who, with the help of 2 Nurse Practitioners, provide comprehensive care for women with cancer.
Dr. Milbourne received her education from The University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine. She followed up with her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. She was in private practice for several years in Los Angeles, before returning to a teaching role at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.
Dr. Milbourne is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and holds medical licenses in both Texas and California.
