Bio Statement

Dr. Aggarwal started his career with a start-up company, Genentech, where he worked for almost ten years and his work lead to the discovery of TNF- a and TNF-b; and identification of their receptors. In 1989, when Dr. Aggarwal joined M. D. Anderson, his group focused on the “Role of Inflammatory Pathways Mediated through TNFs, RANK, TRAIL, CXCR4, NF-kappaB, and STAT3, for the Prevention and Therapy of Cancer and other Chronic Diseases”. Since then, his group has identified more than 50 novel compounds from “Mother Nature” that interrupt these cell-signaling pathways, shown to be effective in various animal models and some are now in Clinical Trials. He has published more than 600 papers in peer-reviewed journals (including Science, Nature, Cancer Cell, PNAS, Journal of Experimental Medicine, Blood, JBC, CR), invited reviews and book chapters, and is inventor/co-inventor on over 33 patents. His papers exhibit high-citations (some exceed 1000) with overall citation now at 75,900 and with an H-index of 115. 

Dr. Aggarwal has edited over 12 books and served as Guest editor for special issues from Biotherapy, Cancer Letters and Current Opinion in Pharmacology. His recent book “Healing Spices” released in January 2011 by Sterling; is already a best-seller. He has trained over 80 Post-doctoral Fellows and Visiting Professors from around the world.
