Bio Statement

Dr. Harmeet Kaur is and Associate Professor at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. She began her medical career in1984 at Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi, India and subsequently began her  radiology career in 1999 after completing her residency, clinical, internship and fellowship in abdominal imaging. Her greatest passion is collaborative clinical care, where she seek to use her skills in image interpretation to improve patient outcome. Her interest is in the imaging of primary and recurrent rectal cancer. Her ongoing research multi-parametric imaging in rectal cancer, where she refined the imaging protocols and currently working on imaging analysis and generating radio-nomic data. She is also involved in a protocol assessing the value of supraparamagnetic iron oxide in nodal involvement. She has lectured extensively on the subject of rectal cancer and also had a number of award winning exhibits at the RSNA.

Research Interests

Develop response criteria in rectal cancer

Improve imaging assessment of response in rectal cancer

Improve accuracy of assessment of nodal involvement with iron particles

Clinical Interests

High resolution MRI for staging of primary, recurrent rectal cancer

Impact of MRI in conjunction with PET/CT on the accuracy of preoperative staging of recurrent rectal cancer
