Primary Appointment

 Judith A. Smith, Pharm.D., BCOP, FCCP, FISOPP  is an Associate Professor in the Department of Gynecologic Oncology, Division of Surgery, UT M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. In addition, Dr Smith has a joint-faculty appointment as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the UT Health Sciences Center at Houston Medical School and in the Department of Clinical Sciences and Administration at the University of Houston, College of Pharmacy where she is the course coordinator for two graduate elective courses. Dr. Smith is an active oncology pharmacist as well as the Core Pharmacology Laboratory Director at UTHSC Medical School at Houston. Her research focus is on drug development for gynecologic cancers and conditions with a specific focus on chemotherapy interactions/drug resistance.  

I have established a diversified research program focusing on evaluation of new agents and new combinations of agents for the treatment of gynecologic malignancies. My research has primary focus on pharmacology including drug mechanism of action, mechanisms of drug resistance (and modulation of resistance), drug metabolism and plasma protein binding drug interactions that effect therapeutic outcomes.   The success of my research is measured directly by the transfer of scientific results from the bench to bedside.
