Bio Statement
Judith K. Wolf, MD, is a Professor in the Department of Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center.
After receiving a bachelor’s degree from the University of Akron, Dr. Wolf earned her medical degree from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine. She completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and a fellowship in gynecologic surgery at the University of Minnesota. Additionally, she completed clinical and research fellowships in gynecologic oncology at the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center and earned a master’s degree in biomedical sciences from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. In 1995, Dr. Wolf joined the faculty of M. D. Anderson Cancer Center.
Dr. Wolf’s research on gynecologic cancers has been published in journals including Gynecologic Oncology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, International Journal of Oncology, and Clinical Cancer Research. She continues to conduct research, particularly in the area of gene therapy for ovarian cancer.
Currently she is involved in laboratory research trying to improve the current gene therapy delivery systems and targeting that are available and clinically involved in several clinical trials evaluating chemotherapy agents, as well as, anti-angiogenic agents in the treatment of gynecologic malignancies.
Dr. Wolf is also active in local and national societies regarding gynecologic malignancies including Society of Gynecologic Oncology, The American Society of Clinical Oncology, The American Association of Cancer Research, The Houston Gynecologic and Obstetrics Society, of which she is President in 2003, and she is the head of the Board-of-Directors of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition. The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition’s main goal is education of women and primary care physicians about the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer. Dr. Wolf is also the Chair person and founder of the 5K fun run Sprint for Life which has thus to date raised over two million dollars for ovarian cancer research and is held each May here at
