Bio Statement

Dr. Steven Kronowitz is a Tenured Professor at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. After receiving his medical degree at the Miami School of Medicine in Florida, Dr. Kronowitz completed his residencies in general and plastic surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. In 2000, he was accepted for an Oncologic Reconstructive Microsurgery fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Upon completion, Dr. Kronowitz joined the faculty in the Department of Plastic Surgery in 2001. He is board certified in both general and plastic surgery.

Dr. Kronowitz is a world-renown expert in the field of breast reconstruction and is most known for his expertise in radiation-related breast reconstruction. He has published extensively and presents both nationally and internationally. He has a clinical and research interest in microsurgical breast reconstruction and oncoplastic surgery, and an active basic science researcher in mechanisms of DNA injury and repair after radiation therapy.
