Present Title & Affiliation

Primary Appointment

Assistant Professor, Department of Thoracic/Head and Neck Medical Oncology, Division of Cancer Medicine, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX

Bio Statement

I have experience with planning, conducting and analyzing clinical trials on head and neck and thoracic malignancies, with a special focus on translational research including blood and tissue-based biomarkers.  I participate in a number of projects that involve multiple disciplines integrating clinical and basic research, both in the setting of pre-malignancies and invasive cancers of the aerodigestive tract. I currently serve as the principal investigator of clinical trials investigating the role of EGFR and/or IGF-1R-targeted agents in head and neck cancers that are related to this project. As a medical oncologist and clinical investigator, I coordinate the conduct of these studies at M.D. Anderson and accrue patients to the trials. Tissue obtained within the context of these studies will be analyzed for the expression of microRNAs and other biomarkers related to Dr. Lai’s project. I will also share with Dr. Lai clinical and outcome information on the patients accrued to the clinical trials.
