About Dr. Alan D. Valentine
Alan
Valentine, MD, is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at the
University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He has over 33 years of
experience in the psychiatric care of patients with cancer. Dr. Valentine’s
clinical interests include the management of cancer-related mood disorders,
delirium, and the effects of central nervous system malignancies. His research
interests include the characterization and treatment of neuropsychiatric side
effects of cancer therapies, especially altered mental status and mood
disorders. Dr. Valentine is a member of the Psychosocial Guidelines Panel for
the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN); a Fellow and former
President of the American Psychosocial Oncology Society. Dr. Valentine is
board-certified in Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry, and Psychosomatic Medicine.
