About Dr. Aurelio Matamoros
Aurelio Matamoros Jr., MD is a Professor of Radiology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Texas, El Paso, his Medical Degree from the University of Colorado Health Science Center and completed his residency in Diagnostic Imaging at David Grant Medical Center, Travis Air Force Base, California, followed by a fellowship in Abdominal Imaging at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Following fellowship, Dr. Matamoros was a staff radiologist at the University of Nebraska for 13 years with primary interest in abdominal imaging, organ transplantation and trauma. For the past 16+ years, Dr. Matamoros has been a staff radiologist at MD Anderson Cancer Center specializing in abdominal imaging. His career has been dedicated to academic medicine, medical students, residents, fellows and mid-level providers. He has presented at numerous professional meetings and has authored or co-authored abstracts, articles, book chapters and exhibits. Dr. Matamoros is a member of the Harris County Emergency Care Committee, Texas Medical Association, Texas Medical Association CME Committee, MOC committees and multiple administrative committees at MD Anderson Cancer Center. His primary interests are imaging and clinical correlation. He is a collaborator on numerous protocols and a reviewer for the Journals of Gastroenterology, Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging and he has recently joined the Editorial Board of Current Imaging Reviews.
