About Dr. Wang
I am a Professor of Pathology specialized in gastrointestinal pathology, a physician scientist, and the section chief of gastrointestinal pathology. I joined MD Anderson Cancer Center in 2004. I have strong passion in innovative translational research mainly focused on pancreatic cancer and have served as principle investigator (PI), pathology core leaders/Core PIs, or co-PI for more than 40 research grants, including SPOREs, P01s, U01s, many other NIH/NCI grants as well as grants from various foundations. My laboratory research, currently funded by two NIH/NCI R01 grants, has been focused on many aspects of pancreatic cancer, including protein kinase and phosphatase alterations, novel pathophysiologic mechanisms and development of new biomarkers. I have also been actively involved in the clinicopathologic studies on the histopathologic predictors and molecular biomarkers in pancreatic cancer patients who received neoadjuvant therapies and in treatment-naïve pancreatic cancer patients. I have been the co-director of pancreatic cancer tumor bank at MDACC since 2004 and enjoyed the productive collaborations with many elite scientists and clinicians on pancreatic cancer research both inside MDACC and across the United States.
