Janio Szklaruk, M.D., Ph.D.

About Dr. Szklaruk
Dr. Janio Szklaruk earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and completed his residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He joined MD Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC) in October 2000. Before joining MDACC, he served as an Assistant Professor of Radiology at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Szklaruk has been an educator at numerous national and international conferences, including refresher courses and workshops at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) and the Society of Abdominal Radiology.
He has published extensively on oncologic imaging, with articles appearing in journals such as Radiology, AJR, PLOS ONE, JCAT, J Hepatocellular Cancer, and Abdominal Imaging. Additionally, he has co-authored multiple book chapters and edited a section of a textbook on oncologic imaging.
Dr. Szklaruk has been invited to speak at national and international conferences, including events in Colombia, Cuba, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, Puerto Rico, Chile, Argentina, and Israel. His research interests focus on the application of new MR imaging techniques and contrast agents in oncologic imaging. He served as Co-Chief, ad interim, of the Abdominal Imaging (AI) section from September 2016 to January 2018 and was Chief of Abdominal Imaging MR from 2014 to 2022.
