      About Dr. Kwong K. Wong

      Kwong K. Wong, Ph.D. has a broad background in biology and biochemistry, with specialized training in molecular genetics, genomics, DNA sequencing analyses, gene expression profiling, and data mining. He is an inventor or co‑inventor on six issued U.S. patents. Dr. Wong’s laboratory is dedicated to deciphering the molecular pathogenesis of ovarian cancer, with a translational focus on identifying prognostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets to enable individualized therapy. His current research centers on rare gynecologic cancers, particularly low‑grade serous carcinoma (LGSOC) and sarcoma. One of his major projects focuses on elucidating the mechanisms underlying resistance of LGSOC to MEK inhibitors.


      Dr. Wong actively collaborates with faculty at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and investigators at other institutions. He is a regular member of the graduate faculty at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center UTHealth Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, where he has mentored numerous graduate students and clinical fellows. His commitment to education has been recognized with the Faculty Educator of the Month award.

      1. Understanding the molecular pathogenesis of low‑grade serous ovarian cancer and developing novel therapeutic strategies.
      2. Developing genetic mouse models for gynecologic cancers.
      3. Deciphering the pathogenesis of uterine leiomyosarcoma and carcinosarcoma.
