Bio Statement
Dr. Mark S. Chambers obtained a Doctorate of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.), along with a Master of Stomatology (M.S.) degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Louisville. He is a tenured Professor and clinical investigator with a focus on developing novel therapeutic approaches to the oral sequelae of cancer therapy. Dr. Chambers is Chief of the Section of Oral Oncology and Maxillofacial Prosthodontics in the Department of Head and Neck Surgery. Additionally, he is Vice Chair of Research Compliance and Regulatory Affairs. His clinical research efforts have included the conduct of several novel clinical trials evaluating secretogogues, mucoprotectants, cytokines, and antibiotics in the management of radiation-induced and chemotherapy-induced xerostomia and mucositis, as well as biomarker analyses; hence, a research focus to develop strategies in reducing cancer treatment-related oral morbidity and protocols to prevent or reduce such complications.
