Bio Statement

I am an internist that graduated from Michael Reese Hospital, Chicago IL. I have completed a Geriatric Medicine Fellowship at Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA and a Clinical and Research Fellowship in Symptom Control and Palliative Care at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX. from 2008 to 2011 I have coordinated Palliative Care services and participated in the Geriatrics Services at Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital, The University of Texas Medical School, Houston, TX.

Currently, I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Palliative Care and Rehabilitation Medicine at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. I provide symptom control and palliative care services to patients with advanced cancer and their caregivers at our institution. I am dedicated to provide the best supportive care to this distressed population. My primary interests in the research field include symptom distress in advanced cancer patients including physical, psychosocial and spiritual distress. I have authored and co-authored several publications about physical and spiritual issues in advanced cancer patients and their caregivers. Other interest includes management of older patients with cancer and topics related to aging and cancer such as frailty and cognition.
