Patricia Troncoso, MD
Department of Anatomical Pathology, Division of Pathology-Lab Medicine Div
About Dr. Troncoso
I am an experienced genitourinary pathologist with a long-standing interest in prostate cancer. My research thus focuses on prostate cancer, including its clinicopathologic and translational aspects. I have extensive expertise in the evaluation of pathologic specimens, in the procurement of tissues, and on quality control procedures. I have been the reference pathologist for many translational studies and also serve as the reference pathologist for neoadjuvant preoperative trials in prostate cancer patients. I am Director of the Prostate Cancer Tissue Bank and chair the Tissue Acquisition and Distribution Committee. I am also Director of the Specimen Core of the MD Anderson Cancer Center Prostate SPORE. Further, as a member of the multidisciplinary team conducting translational research at MD Anderson, I am responsible for all tissue-related aspects of study protocols, including the design of protocol-specific tissue collection procedures, oversight of specimen handling, and evaluation of specimens after treatment of patients with novel therapies.
