Paul Scheet, Ph.D.

Present Title & Affiliation

Primary Appointment

Assistant Professor, Department of Epidemiology, Division of OVP, Cancer Prevention and Population Sciences, The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX

Bio Statement

Paul Scheet, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center.  He received his Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Washington, under the supervision of Matthew Stephens.  Dr. Scheet then did a postdoc with Gonçalo Abecasis at the University of Michigan in statistical genetics, where he also worked in the lab of Noah Rosenberg.  He developed and maintains the software package fastPHASE, which is used for the estimation of missing genotypes and haplotypes.  His research interests include how information from haplotype variation, linkage disequilibirium, and population genetics can inform inferences about complex disease genetics.  Dr. Scheet is a full member on the faculty of  The Univ. of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at Houston.  Further information can be found at his lab website.
