Professor, Interventional Radiology, Division of Diagnostic Imaging, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX

Assistant Professor, Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Imaging, The University of Texas Medical School at Houston, Houston, Texas

      Research Interests

Dr. Avritscher’s main research focus is image-guided interventions for hepatocellular carcinoma and other liver cancers, including translational research in animal models of liver disease and catheter-based therapies. He is interested in innovative ways to enhance the efficacy of our minimally-invasive approaches. Recent insights into liver cancer signaling pathways pose a unique opportunity to develop targeted therapies that can be combined with our techniques, thus improving treatment efficacy and potentially increasing patient survival. He is the recipient of several grants to investigate image-guided minimally-invasive therapies in liver cancer.
