About Dr. Alexandra Bercow
Dr. Bercow is an assistant professor in the Department of Gynecologic Oncology and Reproductive Medicine at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. She completed her medical education at Columbia University, residency training at Harvard’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital, and fellowship training at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Dr. Bercow is passionate about caring for women with gynecologic malignancies. She provides both medical and surgical oncologic care to her patients. In additional to administering chemotherapy and novel therapeutics, Dr. Bercow is well-trained in robotic, laparoscopic and open surgical techniques to allow for comprehensive oncologic care by one provider. She is committed to providing evidence-based, high-quality, and collaborative care for her patients. She feels privileged to be able to offer thorough treatment to her patients here at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Dr. Bercow’s primary research interests are in the surgical treatment of all gynecologic cancers. She has developed surgical trials, including a small feasibility study examining concurrent endometrial cancer surgery with weight loss surgery in obese patients with early-stage endometrial cancer. She has also explored national variations and disparities in surgical care of women with vulvar cancer. She has authored and co-authored original research in several peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Bercow is a member of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology. She is also an ad-hoc reviewer for Gynecologic Oncology and the International Journal of Gynecologic Cancer.
