About Dr. Ignatius
Jerry Ignatius is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He is also the Center Medical Director of the Psychiatric Oncology Clinic at MD Anderson. Dr. Ignatius accomplished medical school training at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his General Psychiatry Residency training at The University of Texas Medical Branch. His fellowship training in Psychiatric-Oncology took place at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Ignatius’ academic interests include helping patients and colleagues connect to their personal mission, demoralization and depression in Cancer Patients, and psychotherapies such as Psychodrama and Meaning-Centered Psychotherapy based on the work of Viktor Frankl. He has also created a Personal Mission Adaptation to Meaning-Centered Psychotherapy to help ameliorate provider burnout through connection with one’s calling.
