      About Dr. Michael Rooney

      Dr. Rooney is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Genitourinary Radiation Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center. He earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine and completed his Radiation Oncology residency training at MD Anderson Cancer Center. During his residency, he also received a Masters of Science in Data Analytics from the University of Houston Downtown. His clinical interests are in the treatment of patients with prostate cancer and rare genitourinary cancers, including penile, testicular, ureteral, and urethral cancers with advanced radiation techniques, including IMRT, SBRT, particle therapy, and brachytherapy. His research interests include the utilization of data science methodologies such as causal inference frameworks to optimize our understanding of personalized therapeutic approaches for patients with genitourinary cancers.
