      About Dr. Neda Kalhor

I am a board-certified Anatomic and Clinical Pathologist and Cytopathologist, and section chief and medical director of MD Anderson’s Immunohistochemistry Laboratory. My main appointment is to provide interpretation and diagnosis in surgical specimens as well as cytologic material of all body sites and providing results for molecular studies (including mutation analysis and biomarker studies).

I have a broad range of interest in Surgical Pathology and Cytopathology with special interests in Thoracic Tumors. As the Clinical Pathologist for BATTLE-2 Clinical Trial, I was able to incorporate the real-time cytopathology assessment to biopsy procedure to improve diagnostic yield and to generate additional tissue source for biomarker analysis. My expertise in Thoracic Pathology and Cytopathology has provided the opportunity to engage in several multidisciplinary studies at MD Anderson, investigating multiple molecular targets for lung cancer to potentially predict response to chemotherapy and targeted therapy using a variety of tissue preparations and resources.
