Present Title & Affiliation
Primary Appointment
Associate Professor, Department of Palliative, Rehabilitation, and Integrative Medicine, Division of Cancer Medicine, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX
Adjunct Associate Professor, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, University of Texas - Houston, McGovern Medical School, Houston, TX
Clinical Interests
Along with developing a clinical pathway to implement Prehabilitation for surgical patients, I am on the committee for Enhanced Recovery for Stem Cell Transplant. This is a quality improvement program to help outcomes in older patients receiving allogeneic stem cell transplantations. It is a multi-disciplinary group involving the Department of Stem Cell Transplantation, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Rehabilitation Services, Clinical Nutrition, Center for Healthy Aging (Geriatrics), Supportive Care, Pharmacy, and Nursing.
My work in developing a Prehabilitation clinic in the Supportive Care Center will establish baseline information on the physical and functional needs of patients who are undergoing surgery, stem cell transplantation, or receiving induction chemotherapy.
