About Dr. Franklin Chiu-Leung Wong
Dr. Wong joined MD Anderson in August of 1992 from Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Wong is a board-certified Neurologist and Nuclear Medicine Physician currently serving as a Professor in the Department of Nuclear Medicine at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. He has a special interest in pre-clinical and clinical molecular imaging for oncological applications. His research focuses in the development of novel radiopharmaceuticals for imaging and cancer therapy. In addition to residencies in nuclear medicine (Johns Hopkins) and neurology (UCLA), his post-graduate training includes pharmacology (Univ. of Arizona), clinical chemistry (Cleveland State Univ.), pathology and medicine (Chicago Medical School). Since joining UTMDACC, he has developed clinical trials and directed 2 NIH-funding trials. He has also completed a DOD Idea grant on imaging and cancer therapy using animal models. Dr. Wong's current research interests are on studies of SPECT-CT, PET-CT of cancer patients as well as pre-clinical imaging of small and large animals and experimental locoregional cancer therapies. He has multi-disciplinary expertise in tumor imaging and PET-CT in animals and humans.
