About Dr. Megan Kalambo
Dr. Megan Kalambo is a Professor in the Department of Breast Imaging at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. She serves as Director of Diagnostic and Interventional Imaging for the MD Anderson Cancer Network, Clinical Medical Director of Breast Imaging for the Houston Area Locations (HALs), and Faculty Co-Director of the MD Anderson Leadership Institute. She earned her medical degree from the Pennsylvania State College of Medicine, completed residency at The University of Texas McGovern Medical School at Houston, and completed a dedicated breast imaging fellowship at MD Anderson.
Dr. Kalambo leads breast imaging clinical operations across the Houston Area Locations and supports strategic initiatives focused on community expansion, patient access, and partnership engagement. Her experience spans academic and community settings, with an emphasis on strengthening cancer care delivery across an expanding network.
Her professional interests include data-driven decision-making in clinical operations and scalable care delivery models that support patient-centered care and multidisciplinary collaboration. She is also deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of physicians, supporting college students, medical students, and residents as they explore and advance in careers in medicine.

Research Interests
My research focuses on developing and evaluating scalable care‐delivery models that integrate community‐based academic oncology practices within broader health systems to improve access to cancer screening and treatment. I investigate quality‐improvement and safety initiatives across distributed networks, optimizing clinical operations, workflows, and capacity planning to meet growing patient needs. By fostering multidisciplinary collaboration and team‐based care, I aim to enhance patient outcomes while implementing AI and digital tools to advance cancer diagnostics. Finally, I’m committed to engaging faculty through leadership development and mentorship programs that sustain innovation and excellence in academic medicine.
