About Dr. Nancy P Caraway
Dr. Caraway received her M.D. degree from the School of Medicine, University of Texas at San Antonio, Texas. She completed her anatomic and clinical pathology residency training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and her cytopathology fellowship at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, where after the completion of the fellowship, she became an attending cytopathologist. Presently, Dr. Caraway is a Associate Professor in the Cytopathology Section of the Department of Pathology. In addition, Dr Caraway is the Director of Cytopathology Fellowship Program and Assistant Director of the Image Analysis and FISH Diagnostic Laboratory. Her service responsibilities cover cytopathology. She is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and cytopathology.
Dr. Caraway is a reviewer of Archives of Clinical Pathology, Cancer Cytopathology and Journal of Clinical Ultrasound.
Dr. Caraway is an active member of numerous professional societies. As a member of the American Society of Cytopathology she is holding a position in the ELearning Committee and is a member. She is on the Publication Committee and Focus Editorial Board of the Papanicolaou Society of Cytopathology and a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. At the University and Medical Center level, she is a member of the Clinic Operation Subcommittee for the Ambulatory Clinic Building, Clinical Research Committee (CRC), Reviewer and member of the Graduate Medical Education Committee.
Dr. Caraway has been a frequent invited speaker at numerous international, national and regional forums. Most of her presentations are dealing with recent advances in urine cytology, approaches and updates in thyroid fine needle aspirations and fine needle aspirations of lymphoproliferative disorders. As part of her recent engagements, Dr Caraway lectured internationally in Mexico, Vancouver and Toronto. In addition, she directed numerous cytopathologic workshops and internationally televised teleconferences.
Dr. Caraway's research interests include the of advanced diagnostic techniques to improve diagnostic accuracy.
